Sheikh Shot Dead In Fifth Robbery Attack

Suspected robbers have shot dead Sheikh Zubair Kyagera Kabigumira, a resident of Busula A local council one village in Busula trading in Luweero district.

 
Sheikh Kyagera was gunned down on Tuesday night at around 8:30pm at Julaw Pump Fuel station along Kampala-Gulu highway while returning from buying chapattis for 'Daku'-the pre-dawn meal for fasting Muslims.
 
 
Scovia Nabukenya, a pump attendant at Julaw Fuel Station says two gunmen masquerading as fuel buyers attacked her and ordered her to surrender all the money on her or else they shoot her.
 
Nabukenya says that she attempted to flee but tripped and fell down. As a result, Sheikh Kyagera who was passing by attempted to intervene and was shot dead by the gunmen.

Edward Lutwama, the LC I Chairperson of Busula A village says he had just parted ways with Sheikh Kyagera before he met his death.

Lutwama also discloses that before the attack on the Pump station the same thugs raided a beer depot and hardware shop where they robbed over Shillings 400,000.


Lameck Kigozi, the Savannah Region Police Spokesperson, says the late Sheikh Kyagera was shot at close range killing him instantly.

Sheikh Kyagera is survived by seven children at his home in Luweero and scores of others at his ancestral home in Bushenyi district. He becomes the fifth person to be killed in robbery attacks in Luweero since this year begun.
 
 
Others victims are Joel Tamale of Kiddukulu village, Corporal Hussein Ssewaka, the Officer in charge of Kakinzi police post, Charles Ssegawa, a local trader in Butuntumula Sub County and Margaret Nakafeero, a resident of Bulyankuyege in Katikamu Sub County.   Police are yet to apprehend any suspect in connection with the robberies.
