In short
On Saturday night, unknown assailants attacked the home of James Kwata a prominent businessman and a money lender, killed him, his wife Didas Namubiru and their five months -old baby.

It was a somber mood at Kyamubanda Village in Lwengo district during the burial of three people of the same family who were attacked and brutally murdered over the weekend.

On Saturday night, unknown assailants attacked the home of James Kwata a prominent businessman and a money lender, killed him, his wife Didas Namubiru and their five months -old baby.

The Bodies were taken to Lyantonde Hospital for a postmortem on Saturday and handed to the relatives on Sunday for burial.

However, the manner in which the assailants entered and murdered the family is still puzzling. They neither broke the door nor dug a hole to enter the house as it were during similar incidents in Rakai.

Paul Wataka, the Lwengo District Police Commander says the killers could have entered the house before its occupants and took advantage when the couple fell asleep.

Earlier, Police arrested Lawrence Wanjonuwe, the secretary for defense Kyamubanda village, his wife Sarah Nalujja and a housemaid Kalaasi following some leads. The suspects who are being held at Kyazanga police station have however denied any involvement in the gruesome incident.

Much as detectives are still puzzled over the manner in which the family was killed, family members and friends want police to analyze the possibility that people who owed Kwata millions of shillings could have plotted his death.

However, Lwengo district leaders are demanding for the intervention of the Inspector General of Police Gen. Edward Kale Kaihura into the matter to help trace the killers. Kulaish Sekalema, the Malongo LCIII Chairman says the matter is very complex for the area police to handle.
