Makerere Road Works to End in April

The ongoing roads works in Makerere University will be completed on schedule, the Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration has revealed.

 
According to Prof. Nawangwe, they expect the road works to be completed by the end of April. On November 21, 2017, Makerere University embarked on the construction of several roads at the tune of Shillings 6 billion.
 
 
They include University road, Mary Stuart road, Pool road, Livingstone drive road/ KTS Police drive, Lincoln drive, West road and Technology road.  Prof. Nawangwe told URN in an interview early this week that the road works are going as planned.

The road construction is part of the deal Makerere University entered with Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA for property lost as a result of the expansion of Makerere Hill road.

 
He however, said the money allocated for the improvement of the roads isn't enough to do standard roads. Nawangwe said the improved roads will give Makerere University a new look.

The agreement also provides for the installation of 120 street lights along the improved roads.
