Former Premier Amama Mbabazi has been unveiled as the preferred candidate of The Democratic Alliance today.

The Democratic Alliance (TDA) has unveiled former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi as their preferred candidate; a nomination Mbabazi has accepted.

Mbabazi was presented as the preferred candidate of seven out of the nine parties that form TDA. Among the parties that backed his nomination are Democratic Party, People's Progressive Party, Uganda People's Congress faction led by Dr. Olara Otunnu, and the eminent persons.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Conservative Party (CP) did not approve Mbabazi's nomination. The two parties were also not represented at the unveiling of Mbabazi as the TDA presidential candidate.

Supporting Mbabazi's nomination, DP president Norbert Mao said The Democratic Alliance Summit failed to reach a consensus, but at least managed to get the preferred candidate.   Mbabazi told the media and the Alliance Members present that he accepted the nomination.

Mbabazi was unveiled at The Democratic Alliance offices in Naguru.
