Amama Mbabazi, the former prime minister says he doesn't need permission to join the people's struggle. Mbabazi whose tenure as NRM secretary general was cut short say he has participated in many struggles and can't go on leave in the middle of a struggle. He was responding to a request by the pro poor NRM youths to challenge President Yoweri Museveni in the 2016 polls.

Without giving details, Mbabazi said he has acted in a manner that sends clear messages on his political future for the last one year. "I don't like acting on the spur of the moment, it is better to speak when one is ready and people are eager to hear you," he said.
He thanked the Youth for identifying his potential and expressing confidence in him. Mbabazi said he would peruse the regulations of the NRM party on standing for presidency as requested by the youth.

Mbabazi also hailed the youths for fighting for their rights despite being picked up by police. He asked government not to see the pro poor NRM youth as a problem because their cause is known adding that, it is not wise to arrest the youths because it is easy to find solutions to their concerns.
Isa Kato, the coordinator of the group accused president Museveni of focusing on the people close to him at the expense of the entire country. He warned that the country would be in trouble unless Mbabazi takes up the challenge to contest against Museveni.
