Presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has promised to create five million jobs for youths in the country once elected president. "My government will create five million jobs for young people in Uganda. I also know the women have a problem with maternal health which I will address with immediate effect once i am president of Uganda," Mbabazi said.

He was addressing a campaign rally at Arua Hill Boma Grounds on Monday. Mbabazi also promised to create 5,770 jobs for Arua youth district youths alone. He faulted Museveni for failing to address the problem of youths unemployment. According to Mbabazi, once he succeeds in the peaceful transition of power, Ugandans will enjoy the resources of the country.

Mbabazi noted that West Nile region is grappling with high maternal deaths, which makes it hard for people to progress as they spend most of their funds to address the health challenges. He also faulted government over the high dropout rates in Universal Primary Education-UPE.

Mbabazi asked the voters to guard their votes on Election Day. "When you vote, make sure you wait at the polling station until the vote count is done to avoid theft of your votes for people's wishes to become reality," Mbabazi said.

Norbert Mao, the Democratic Party President asked the people of West Nile to embrace a peaceful transition of power. He said Northern region has faced marginalisation and sabotage under the NRM government.
