Three people have died and ten others critically injured in an accident at Kateebe along the Bwizibwera - Buhweju road.

The three met their death in the wee hours of Sunday morning when the vehicle they were travelling lost control and veered off the road overturning several times.

The same accident left a total of 10 people critically injured.
 
According to police, a canter vehicle registration number UAY 517D was transporting over 30 people from an annual crusade organised by Rev. Father John Basobora at Karama,in Nyakayojo division of Mbarara Municipality.
 
 The vehicle set off this morning destined for Karungu Sub County in Buhweju District.

Police identified the deceased as Leonida Kiviri (43), Beatrice Nahabwe (28) and Innocent Asiimwe(2 ). The injured were rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
 
Rwizi regional police spokesperson Ibin Senkumbi told our reporter that the accident was as a result of reckless driving as the driver was reportedly trying to avoid detection by police since he was illegally transporting passengers at the back of the truck.
 

Jonathan Mukundane, a survivor told our reporter that the driver was speeding when the vehicle veered off the road. Francis Mwijukye, the Buhweju county Member of Parliament said there were arrangements to transport the bodies back to their homes.
