Mengo Budgets UGX 70m for Kabaka's Visit to Kayunga

Over UGX 70 Million is budgeted to facilitate the forthcoming visit of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to Bugerere, Kayunga district. The figure follows a review process which reduced the budget from the initial UGX 150 Million, a member of the organizing committee Patrick Nsanja says.

Over UGX 49m will be spent on logistics like transport, meals and venue set up, while UGX 4.46 million is allocated for the renovation of Kabaka’s Palace in Bugerere, Nsanja  adds.

Another UGX 15 million is needed for the Construction of Mugerere House, the House of Kabaka’s representative in Bugerere County.  This however is a long term project.

The 3-day visit that starts on January 27th.

Nsanja who also serves as the Ntenjeru County Member of Parliament explains that the committee eliminated some of the items that were categorized as not so important hence the budget cut.

Nsanja explains that Mengo and Kabakas subjects will be the source of the funding for the budget. Additional contributions are expected from the host area MPs and Ministers who include, Himself, Amos Lugoolobi,  Aidah Nantaba and Sulaiman Madada. Kabaka’s subjects are also expected to have a contribution.

The Committee consists of Mugerere -Kabaka’s representative in Bugerere County, Members of Parliament and Ministers from Bugerere and Kayunga district, Buganda Kingdom Ministers including Minister for Local Government Kawuki Joseph, Minister Mariam Mayanja in charge of kabaka’s travels and Bulungi Bwansi, Health Minister Ben Kiwanuka Mukwaya and others.

Nsanja confirmed that the committee has planned that on the first day of the visit,  The Kabaka will visit  Bbaale, before touring Ntenjeru  on the second day and address his subjects on the third day at the County Headquarters in Ntenjeru.
