Minister Wants Parents Arrested over Pupil Absenteeism

Education Minister Jessica Alupo has ordered Police in Kabale District to arrest Parents and children of school going age, who persistently stay out of school.

Alupo said that she had received a confirmation that a number of pupils in Kabale district were out of school and involved in casual labour. She was speaking at the 8th graduation ceremony of National Teachers College - Kabale where over 1000 Students were awarded diplomas in Education.

She said Police should arrest and facilitate trial for whoever is helping children to drop out of school.
