Superintendent of Police, Mathias Muge, who is the Agago District Police Commander, told Uganda Radio Network this morning that two people have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Muge identified the two as 30 year old Okwir and 28 year old Otto Atong, both residents of the same area. He said they will be produced before court to answer to charges of kidnapping and murder when investigations are concluded.

Muge said Police is still investigating reports that the elderly man was embroiled in a long running land wrangle with some members of the village.

The murder brings to eight the number of people killed in land related disputes in Agago and Pader in the last two months. The other seven were attacked as they worked in their gardens by rival clan members who accused them of trespass and land grabbing.
