Missing UPDF Veteran Found Dead

A Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) veteran who went missing has been found dead.

Edward Tumwesigye 46, a resident of Kitambi A cell, Nyanja Parish, Maziba Sub County in Kabale district went missing on January 15.

Samuel Ngambe, a resident of Kitambi says that the body of Tumwesigye was found today dumped in a garden of pineapples about 50 kilometres away from Kanyakyitana trading centre in Nyanja parish. Ngambe says that the deceased was last seen drinking alcohol at the same trading centre on the same day he disappeared. He says that locals mounted a search until today when his body was discovered.

Elly Maate, the Police spokesperson for Kigezi region says that the autopsy report indicates that the deceased was murdered. Maate says that police has already arrested eight people and detained them at Kabale Police station to help in investigations. 

Maate declined to reveal the identities of the suspects for fear of jeopardising investigations.
