Three Police Officers Face Murder Charges

This afternoon, Enock Abaine, the Wamala Region Police Commander told mourners in Kunywa village that preliminary investigations show that Kyobe could have been killed.

Mityana Police has slapped murder charges against three Police Officers and a Crime preventer who were arrested on Tuesday following the death of a suspect in custody at Nakaseeta Police Post. 

The suspects are Abraham Kabenga, the Officer in Charge of Nakaseeta Police Post, Sam Mvulukiye and Dominic Turyakihayo, both Special Police Constables and a Crime preventer Brian Kiyingi.
                                                               
 
The suspects were locked up after William Kyobe, an assault suspect was found dead in Nakaseeta Police cells. Initially, Police claimed that Kyobe committed suicide. Kyobe's body was transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem. 

This afternoon, Enock Abaine, the Wamala Region Police Commander told mourners in Kunywa village that preliminary investigations show that Kyobe could have been killed. 
 
 
According to Abaine, they decided to transfer Kyobe's body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem they saw bruises and wounds on the deceased's body. He apologized to the mourners on behalf of the Police force.

Abaine also disclosed that they were looking for Godfrey Ssewakiryanga who led to the arrest of Kyobe, when accused him of assaulting his son. He said Ssewakiryanga was seen at the Police post with the officers a day before Kyobe was found dead in the cells.
 
 
Ezra Mayenge, LC I Chairperson of Kunywa village who spoke on behalf of the residents said they were very angry with the Police.
