Uganda Cranes captain at the on-going 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), Farouk Miya is set to join top Belgian Premier League side Standard Liege.

Haruna Kyobe, the SC Vipers Club Secretary disclosed to URN that after several discussions they have agreed that the player joins Standard Liege.


"Vipers Sports Club has agreed to sell inspirational player Miya to Belgian giants Standard Liege following successful negotiations between the two clubs," read the club statement issued today.


The 19-year old who was voted the 2015 Uganda Footballer of the Year is expected to agree personal personal terms after the CHAN competition. Miya who is currently nursing a shoulder injury scored one of the goals in Uganda's 2-2 draw against Mali on Tuesday in Rubavu, Rwanda.


"We would like to thank Miya for his contribution and the role he played in helping Vipers lift the 2014/15 Azam Uganda Premier League trophy where he scored 11 goals with 7 assists," said a release from the club.


According to SC Vipers, the move is expected be in the range of US$400.000. Miya who is also Uganda's leading scorer in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with three goals made 49 appearances scoring 20 goals for Vipers Sports Club since graduating from St Mary's Kitende Academy during the 2013/14 mid season transfer period.
