The win takes Morocco top of Group A. After putting up a spirited fight with some good defending bu the Mauritania team, the home side scored through Ayoub El Kaabi who picked a brace, Ismail El Haddad and Achraf Bencharki.
Action in the tournament meant for home based players featuring in African leagues in their respective countries return today with another Group A clash as Guinea battle Sudan. The West Africans drew 1-1 against Uganda Cranes in one of their international friendly games last week in Rabat, Morocco.
The second game of the day will see former CHAN champions Cote dÍvoire take on Namibia in a Group B encounter in Marrakech, before Uganda Cranes face Zambia in the last game of the evening.
Sébastien Desabre, Uganda's head coach said during the match presser on Saturday that they are well prepared for the game. "We need to take the opening match seriously because it determines a lot going forward," said the French born coach.
Bernard Muwanga will skipper the team, while the likes of Derrick Nsibambi, Muhammad Shaban will be expected to step their game in search of goals, while Saddam Ibrahim Juma or Muzamir Mutyaba will hold the midfield.
The Cranes who have never qualified for the knock out stage in their previous appearances in CHAN will battle Namibia in their second game on January 18th and conclude against Cote dÍvoire four days later.
