Police in Kasese have impounded two vehicles belonging to two candidates in the NRM primary elections. Bob Kagarura, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Commander says the vehicles belong to James Mbahimba, the incumbent Kasese Municipality MP and Kasese mayoral candidate Paul Asaba Mudaki.

Kagarura identifies the vehicles as Toyota Premio registration number CE 851AC and BMW registration number UAR 287X. The Premio belongs to Mbahimba while the BMW belongs to Mudaki. According to Kagarura, Mbahimba's vehicle didn't have number plates when they impounded it on Sunday night but they found Congolese number plates CE 851AC in the co-driver's seat.

Mbahimba's vehicle was intercepted at Rwabitooke cell on the boundary of Central Division and Muhokya sub-county while distributing unspecified items to voters.

James Mbahimba says he dispatched his vehicles last evening to help ferry traders and farmers to Mawa market so as to sale early and return them back to their polling areas by midday.

Mbahimba feigned ignorance when our report asked whether he didn't know that it was illegal to ferry voters to polling stations. Leonard Kasereka, the campaign manager of Mbahimba's rival Ferigo Kambale says the vehicles were impounded because of the vigilance of their teams on ground.
