Mubende Resident State Attorney Patrick Obbo Oneko has been charged for allegedly receiving a five hundred thousand shillings bribe. He is also charged with abuse of office
 
 According to the charge sheet, Mr Obbo on or around April 30th, this year, at the Mubende Directorate of Public Prosecutions, corruptly solicited for a gratification of half a million shillings bribe in order not to prefer charges against a murder suspect.
 
 
Obbo is said to have received the bribe from Francis Katuura a resident of Kiganda Mubende District . The bribe was to prevent Obbo from preferring a charge of murder against one Gordon Muwange.
 
The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) which is prosecuting in the case states that on May 5th, Obbo was arrested just after he had received the said bribe from Katuura.
 
 
Obbo who appeared at the Anti-Corruption Court denied the charges. He was released on a cash bail of 1.5 million shillings Grade One Magistrate Susan Okeny.
 
 
Each of his three sureties was bonded at a non cash bond of fifty million shillings.  Court directed Obbo to surrender to the court for custody.  The case was adjourned to May 21 for mention.
