Mugabe who lost 6-4, 6-4 to South Africa's Tucker Vorster in the second round of the men's singles later paired with Moses Michael (Nigeria) to beat the tournament's seed 4 Joe Cooper (England)/Ivo Klec (Slovakia) 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter fnals of the men's doubles.
The Ugandan star will be in action on Thursday evening in an anticipated  tough semi final clash against the South African pair of Keith Patrick Crowley and Tucker Vorster. Mugabe told URN that playing in the two Nigerian tournaments since last week has helped him step up his game.
David Oringa, Uganda's second best player was on Tuesday eliminated in the first round of the tournament. The two players are preparing for the 2015 All Africa Games to take place in Congo Brazzaville in September.
In the men's singles only foreign players have qualified for the quarter finals. Top seed Ivo Klec (Slovakia) stopped South Africa's Joshua Chetty 6-2, 6-2, while seed 2 Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (India) defeated Timothee Zannou (Benin) 6-0, 6-1. The other players who have made it to the last eight include; Evan Song (USA), Eric Quigley (USA), Deiton Baughman (USA), Matija Pecotic (Croatia) and Keith Oatrick Crowley (South Africa).
