President Museveni was on Tuesday in Rubanda District to rally support for National Resistance Movement-NRM party flag bearers ahead of the election of a district chairperson and district representative in parliament scheduled for August 29. Rubanda is one of the four districts operationalized this financial year.
NRM's Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema is facing stiff competition from independent candidates Stephen Ampeire Kasaba, Nelson Habasa and Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party candidate Joseph Ruhangariyo for the District chairman's seat.
Meanwhile, Prossy Begumisa is facing a challenge from FDC's Vastine Mutatina and independent candidate Kabarungi Hilder Karuhize for the women's parliamentary seat.
But during President Museveni's rallies, held at Muko playground and at Bubaare Secondary School compound, NRM members in Rubanda accused the incumbent Rubanda East County Member of Parliament Henry Musasizi and the incumbent Rubanda West Member of Parliament Denis Sabiiti for supporting independent candidates.
Christopher Ngabirano, one of the NRM members from Ruhuja Sub County says that the two legislators have never openly rallied support for NRM flag bearers adding that their allegiance to the NRM is questionable.

Cue out…..support them"//
Gerald Akambaasa, another concerned NRM member from Bufundi Sub County wonders why the legislators declined to mention names of NRM candidates even during the presidents rallies.
//Cue in "whoever comes on…..
Cue out…..supporting us"//
During the rally at Bubaare Secondary School, Museveni said that he had received reports about political fights in the newly created District. He invited Musasizi and the NRM candidate Kenneth Biryabarema on the podium for reconciliation.

Musasizi who was booed by NRM supporters at the rally declined to reconcile with Biryabarema claiming that voters who were booing him are mercenaries. He added that the President should look for another place for the two parties to reconcile but not before the voters.
//Cue in "Your Excellency n'obuyokuba …..
Cue out…..tubone kukyiganiiraho"//
Biryabarema says that he has no grudges with the two MPs because they have to work as a team if development is to be realized in Rubanda District.
Sabiiti says that all voters in the district know him as supporter of NRM and there is no need of mentioning the names of the flag bearers while on a podium.
