Regional security and trade are among the issues on the table as President Yoweri Museveni meets Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The two leaders are meeting at Mweya Safari Lodge in Kasese district.

Uganda Media Centre Director Ofwono Opondo told the media at Mweya that regional security, cross-border trade and the development of the petroleum resources are some of the issues on the table for the two leaders.

Opondo said the presence in DRC of ADF and M23 rebels continues to pose a threat to regional security, noting that it is one of the issues up for discussion during the summit.

Kabila arrived in Uganda through the Mpondwe border post earlier today for a summit. According to Opondo, Ugandan traders complain that they are made to pay a lot of money by the DRC authorities at the border.

Ministers Sam Kutesa for foreign affairs, Henry Tumukunde for security, Betty Amongi for lands and attorney general William Byaruhanga are attending the summit.
