Museveni Pledges to Tarmac Moroto-Kotido-Kaabong Road

The NRM Presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has promised to continue developing infrastructure in Karamoja sub region, especially roads.

 
Museveni said this while addressing his campaign rally at Lomukura Primary School in Kotido Town Council on Wednesday.

 
He pledged to tarmac the Moroto - Kotido - Kaabong Road although he did not mention when. Museveni disclosed that a suitable company was being sought to work on the 180 KM Moroto- Kaabong road stretch via Kotido town.

Museveni also promised to extend electricity to Kotido and Kaabong districts once reelected in 2016. He noted that there are only four districts in Uganda without electricity including Kaabong, Kotido, Buvuma and Nwoya.

 
Museveni promised to extend power to the four districts to stimulate development. He also said the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs will continue building more community dams in the region to address the problem of drought.
 
 
He however, called on the people of Karamoja to build personal dams using the road equipment that government plans to distribute to each district.

He called upon the people of Karamoja to adopt mixed farming and keep improved livestock to earn more income.
 

Paul Lotyang, a resident of Kotido Rural Mosque in Kotido Town Council and other voters said they expected Museveni to announce a plan to improve the quality of education in the country instead of provision of sanitary pads and scholastic materials to learners.

They said that government should rather invest on irrigation technologies, health and education.
