Uganda Cranes technical bench has left out skipper Andrew Mwesigwa and Geoffrey Kizito for the March 25th International friendly against Nigeria.

The two players were identified by the public as the weakest links in the Cranes 2-0 loss to Guinea in a crucial 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier. Mwesigwa was sent off in that particular game. However, Coach Milutin ‘Micho' Sredojevic has said the two players have been left out because they have not been active for the last one month.

Sredojevic on Thursday night named a 25 man team, but said some of the players could drop out. The Nigerian FA will reportedly cater for a 30-man contingent for the match which will be played at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo. Tanzania based striker Emmanuel Okwi, Tony Mawejje and Junior Yunus Sentamu (Tunisia) were also left out of the team.

Mike Azira who features for MLS side Seattle Sounders in the US has been recalled to the team after his last appearance over a year ago in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. The trio of Alex Kakuba, Patrick Edema and William Kizito Luwagga who ply their trade in Portugal have also been called to the team.

The Cranes Uganda Cranes were lucky to get the invite after Bolivia pulled out of the earlier planned match against Nigeria. The Bolivia FA said they were not comfortable because of the tense political situation in the country.

Some of the other star players invited include; Geoffrey Massa, Dennis Onyango, William Kizito Luwagga and Godfrey Walusimbi.
