Napak District Prioritizes Health, Education in FY 2016/17

Napak district has prioritized health and education service delivery in its budget estimates for the financial year 2916/2017.


With a budget of 12. 5 billion Shillings, the district is allocating 3.3 billion Shillings to the health sector, followed by the education sector with 3.2 billion Shillings and administration budgeted at 7 billion Shillings.


Napak District Chairperson Joseph Lomonyang says the health sector in the district is ailing and needs a total overhaul.  Napak has no district hospital. It however has sparsely spaced Health centres II and III's and one privately owned facility; Matany Hospital.

Lomonyang says that health centres require adequate supply of medicines supplemented with outreach services including provision of health education in order to reduce mortality and morbidity rates.

Linos Angella, the outgoing secretary for finance said 76.4 percent of the budget will be financed by central government and 20.7 percent will be funded by donors and local revenue collections.
