Ugandan athletes Ali Ngaimoko and Sheda Leni will race in Italy today as they target qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

Dominic Otuchet, President of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) told URN on Saturday morning that this will be a great chance for the athletes to put up a god show and hit the Olympic qualifying marks.

He explained that the National Council of Sports (NCS) provided the two tickets for the athletes.  "Our target is to have 18 or more athletes qualify for the Olympics because that will increase our chances of winning more medals," he said.

Uganda has now qualified 13 athletes and two boxers for the Summer Olympic Games that run August 7-21 in Rio de Jeneiro. The 2016 Summer Olympic program features a total of 41 disciplines.

Uganda's athletes who have qualified for the Olympic Games include 2012 Marathon gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich, Solomon Mutai together with two boxers Ronald Serugo and Kenneth Katende among others.
