One Dead,11 Injured in Kakumiro Motor Accident

Eleven traders from Mubende district are admitted in hospital with serious injuries sustained following a road accident in Kakumiro, Kibaale district.  One person died in the tragedy.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning at Kijanji village on the Kakumiro-Karuguza road. The Isuzu Lorry registration number UAR 347M in which they were traveling reportedly lost control.

The traders were on a business trip to Birembo Sub County in Kibaale district.

Sylvester Kabaho, the officer in charge Traffic at Kakumiro police station only identifies the deceased as Kavubu in his 20’s, a resident of Kawala village, Kiyuni Sub County in Mubende district.
 
The injured are identified as Samuel Semuga, Tadeo Kyamanywa, John Seremba and Charles Ngongere. Others are Katusabe Nabulyani, Sam Kasibante, Richard Serimu, Joseph Sekinga and Frank Sekamuli all hailing from Kiyuni in Mubende district.
 
Kavubu died on his way to Kakumiro Health center where the victims were rushed first. Those injured are now admitted at Mubende regional referral hospital. They sustained deep wounds and severe body fractures
Kabaho blames the accident on over speeding which resulted into the driver losing control of the vehicle.
 
The vehicle driver, who is yet to be identified, is reportedly on the run. The vehicle wreckage has been towed to Kakumiro police station.
