One Killed, Four injured in Ntungamo Accident

One Person has died and two others critically injured after an accident along the Ntungamo - Rukungiri road. The accident involving a fuso lorry registration number UAX 299R and double cabin pickup registration number LG 0042-31 occurred at Kyangara village in the wee hours of the night.

The lorry which was reportedly transporting traders from Ntungamo market knocked a double cabin that was destined for Ntungamo town. The deceased has been identified as Asaph Kajoogo, a resident of Kabagyenda in Ntungamo Municipality.

Kajoogo who was seated in the double cabin's front seat had his head chopped off in the accident. He was traveling from a burial ceremony in Nyamunuka in Kajara County when the tragedy occurred.

All the injured were traveling in the double cabin while the over 40 traders on the Fuso lorry survived unhurt. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Itojo Hospital in Ntungamo district.

Kenneth Manzi, one of the traders told URN that the Fuso was over speeding and overloaded.

Baker Kahonaho, the Ntungamo District Police Commander told our reporter that the cause of the accident is being investigated.
