Uganda Cranes first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango was in good form last night to help his South African side Mamelodi Sundowns reach the semi final stage of the CAF Orange Champions League.

The Absa Premier League champions beat Egyptian side Zamalek 1-0 in a Group B tie played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium to make it to the last four of the lucrative tournament.

It was an out goal turned in after 70 minutes by defender Ali Gabr that made the difference. Substitute Percy Tau's low cross from the left was deflected by Gabr.

Onyango who was voted best goalkeeper in the just concluded Absa Premiership in South Africa made some great saves in the first half, but was more on holiday later.

Onyango's team have nine points from three victories in Group B, a mini-league reduced to three clubs when Entente Setif of Algeria were kicked out over a pitch invasion.

Zamalek have three points having won only one of three matches and two-time champions Enyimba of Nigeria are pointless following two losses. Zamalek will join Sundowns in the semi-finals if they do not lose at home to Enyimba during August.

In a Group A game Egypt's Ahly picked a surprise 1-0 away win over Group A leaders Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in Rabat.

The result sets up an intriguing climax during August with Wydad and Zesco United of Zambia having seven points each and ASEC Mimosas of the Ivory Coast and Ahly four apiece.
