Okello said they supplied 12,500 seedlings to Akokoro Sub County on Monday but they were shocked to find that they had illegally been distributed to unknown beneficiaries without authorisation from the concerned officers.

There was drama at Akokoro sub county headquarters in Apac district on Tuesday. It all started after a team of district officials led by Colonel Geoffrey Okello, the Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation-OWC stormed the sub county headquarters to probe the distribution of over 12,000 seedlings supplied under the program.

The sub county officials disappeared from their offices for fear of explaining why they decided to distribute the seedlings without authorisation from the concerned officials. This prompted Colonel Geoffrey Okello, the Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation-OWC to order the arrest of the Akokoro Senior Assistant Secretary, Wilbert Obala and the Ayeolyec Parish Councilor, Charles Ochan.

"I want to ask the police to ensure that Mr. Wilbert Obala, the sub county Chief and Mr. Charles Ocen, a councilor for Ayeolyec parish in Akokoro Sub County be arrested and prosecuted for sabotaging government programs by distributing seedlings without documentary evidence" he said.

Okello said they supplied 12,500 seedlings to Akokoro Sub County on Monday but they were shocked to find that they had illegally been distributed to unknown beneficiaries without authorisation from the concerned officers. "Why did they decide to distribute the seedlings without documentary evidence?  I think this kind of things should stop forth with" Okello said.

But Wilbert Obala has denied any wrong doing, saying the seedlings were distributed without his knowledge. He said it was the Ayeolyec Parish Councilor, Charles Ochan who was behind the distribution of the seedlings. This prompted the officials to search for the councilor in vain. Alfonse Ojangole, the Apac District Police Commander, says they will hunt for the councilor and his accomplices to explain their action.

"We are not going to tolerate some people who want to sabotage government programs and after committing the offence and you begin running away from your responsibility, the long arms of the law will get them all so that they are prosecuted without fear or favor," he said.
