Local Government Minister, Kahinda Otafiire, has intervened in a three-month row over the management of the Mbale Taxi Park by suspending the bidding process on the running of the park. The Mbale Municipal Council, the Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association (UTODA) and two companies owned by senior army officers are involved in the taxi park wrangle. Tours and Travels Limited, a company owned by Colonel Elly Kayanja and African International Investments Limited owned by General Joshua Masaba both tendered bids to run the park. They lost out to a third company, YY Investments, which is reportedly backed by the Mayor of Mbale, Richard Masaba. The Town Clerk of Mbale, Kenneth Katuli says the soldiers' companies protested the manner in which the tender was awarded and after numerous discussions and complaints, they appealed to Otafiire to intervene. //Cue in: iWe had #i Cue out: i# the Attorney General.i//
