Chance Kahindo, the area Chairperson said that about 30 houses were brought down or blown off by the heavy storm and rains on Thursday.
Kahindo said that the most affected areas are Mughende, Nsenyi, Kalingwe, Nyakayina and Nyabirongo.
He said other household properties worth millions of shillings were destroyed in the process.

Deus Sahani, whose house was blown off by the heavy storm in Mughende village told Uganda Radio Network that it will take him long to rebuild it. He says he requires up to three million shillings for repairs.
He and his family have sought refuge at a neighbour's home.

Evelyn Biira Musema, a resident of Nsenyi village said that the heavy down pour threatened everyone because the wind and hail stones took long to cease.  Musema says their food crops were destroyed by hail stones.

Patrick Muthanaba, the Kisinga sub-county LC 5 councilor said that a registration desk has been set up at the sub-county headquarters to compile a full list of all families that were  affected.

 Muthanaba said that when a final list of families affected and the amount of property destroyed is compiled, a report will be handed to the Kasese district disaster management committee for support.
