Joseph Adongu says some of those injured badly have been transferred to Mulago National Referral hospital.

More than 20 people in Soroti are nursing injuries they sustained during the botched consultative meeting organised by ex-Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi at Soroti Sports grounds. Most of the injured were hit by rubber bullets and teargas canisters shot by Anti-riot Police at close range to disperse a rally organised by Mbabazi to popularise his presidential ambitions.

Police fired the rubber bullets and teargas after Mbabazi declined a directive by Phillip Acaye, the Kyoga East Regional Police Commander not to proceed with his scheduled rally. Although Police managed to disperse people from the sports grounds, they retreated and started pelting police with stones leading to running battles.

It is now emerging that more than 20 people were injured in the skirmishes. This morning, URN compiled a list of some of the injured people from different clinics in Soroti Town.
