About 200 members of parliament across the political divide have thrown their weight behind the bid of Muhammad Nsereko, the Kampala Central legislator for the post of deputy speaker of parliament.
The group is comprised of legislators from the ruling National Resistance Movement- NRM party, the Forum for Democratic Change, Democratic Party and independent legislators.

The campaign taskforce of Nsereko is chaired by Bukedea Woman MP-elect, Anita Among. Other members include Simon Oyet and Akello Franca Latif Ssebagala and Muyanga Ssenyonya, Winnie Kizza, Hatwib Katoto and Christopher Kibazanga and Panadol Mugema.
Rubaga South MP-elect, Kato Lubwama and Christopher Kibazanga said they need a younger person who is independent to steer the House and hold their interests at heart.

Nsereko will battle for the position with MPs David Bahati, Monica Amoding, Abbas Agaba, Wilfred Niwagaba, Theodore Ssekikubo, Jovah Kamateeka and Denis Obua. Elections for the speaker are scheduled to be held on May 20th after swearing in of all MPs.
