According to David Odoi, the Returning Officer of Njeru Central Division, the areas were covered in confusion when persons who possessed national identity cards demanded that they are allowed to vote even if their names did not appear on the village voters registers. Odoi said the process was halted when the group became chaotic.

He says another date for fresh elections will be announced by the electoral commission.

Njeru central division has 36 villages and among these, 10 of them did not vote because they residents never agreed with the registers.

Earlier, tempers flared in parts of Lugazi municipality where voters clashed with electoral officials over missing names.  Electoral officials labored to explain why the National Identity Card was not the sole prerequisite for voting rights ion local councils.
