Mukono Chief Magistrate's court has sentenced a Pakistan national to 10-years in jail after finding him guilty of sodomy. The convict is Muhammed Shabaz, an engineer with GM Company Limited in Buikwe district and his victim is Sulaiman Kasolo, an employee of the same company.

Prosecution led by Joan Nakitiimba told court presided over by Agnes Konge, the Mukono Chief Magistrate that on the night of April 20, 2013, Shahbaz forcefully sodomised Kasolo. According to Nakitiimba, Muhammed tricked his victim that he was taking to Lugazi to connect him to a well-paying job and doused his water with some substance, which made him unconscious before he committed the crime.

She says that Kasolo regained his senses the next day in a sugarcane plantation where he had been dumped. He immediately filed a case at Lugazi Police station leading to the arrest of the suspect.  The same day police opened a case against Kasolo for giving police false information.

Prosecution lined up eight witnesses who testified against Shabaz. In her ruling, Agnes Konge, the Mukono Chief Magistrate found the accused guilty saying prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and convicted the accused to years in jail. She said the crime goes against the order of nature and noted with concern that it was on the increase.

Pastor Solomon Male, the head of Coalition Against Homosexuality and Sex Abuses in Uganda who in the court welcomed the ruling. He however said Shabaz should have deported once he completes his jail term to take his bad sexual habits back to his country.

Pastor also didn't have kind words for the Police Officers who tried to silence Kasolo when they opened up a case against him for giving false information to police saying they could have been bribed.
