Gerald Karuhanga, the Public Accounts Committee Vice Chairman, saying adopting officials from the IGG and DPP will boost the fight against corruption and make it more effective.

Parliament is in the process of coopting officers from the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) and Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to help the fight against corruption.

They are to be attached to the three accountability committees including Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises-COSASE, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Local Government Accounts Committee (LGAC).

The Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga says the move will go a long way in fighting corruption as both the IGG and DPP will be able to take up corruption cases immediately they are discovered by the House committees.

The proposal comes almost a month after COSASE compelled Chinese contractors to refund tax payer's money advanced it to by Uganda National Roads Authority for the compensation of Projected Affected Person.

However, instead of paying the affected persons, the contractors fixed the money to earn interest. By Wednesday when parliament adjourned for the Christmas holiday, COSASE had recovered more than Shillings 70 billion Shillings from the Chinese contractors. Kadaga explains how tax payer's money was used by Chinese contractors.
