Political parties will next week meet to discuss the planned talks with President Yoweri Museveni.
 
Norbert Mao, the Democratic Party President told Uganda Radio Network on Tuesday that the consultative meeting will include discussing the Agenda to be set, possible outcome of the talks and to decide any grounds of agreement with government.
 
Mao reveals that the DP secretary general has been directed to contact all the secretary generals of parties particularly those with representation in Parliament.

There have been calls for political parties and government to sit and discuss national issues if Uganda is to attain full democratic governance.
 
Mao also reveals that on the yet to be named date, Andrew Mwenda, the Independent Publications managing director, and Conrad Nkutu, the former Daily Monitor Editor in Chief were named as the intermediaries to bring Dr. Besigye and President Museveni to bury their hatchet.
 
The DP President says the two media personalities shall also update the political parties on the way forward.
 
Forum for Democratic Change party spokesperson, Wafula Oguttu, however, says he is not aware if Alice Alaso, the party secretary general has been contacted. But he says FDC is open to a meaningful and structured national dialogue with a negotiated and agreed agenda. He adds that they also need a guarantee that the outcomes of the meeting can be implemented.
 
Jacinto Ogwal, the UPC secretary general says they have not been contacted, but argued that any talks will be held under the framework of their party policy.
