Pastor Elijah Okuru Mongen, a Kenyan national in his 30s, has been part of a group of preachers in a week long youth conference that ended today at Kiboga Progressive Secondary School in Kiboga town.
The 6th annual youth conference organized by Youth Transformation Ministries International had attracted youth from Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Hoima, Kibaale, Kampala, Mubende, Mityana, Wakiso, Mukono, Jinja among other districts.
Elijah, who delivered his sermon in the conference on Friday evening, was on Saturday morning discovered hanging by a scarf he had tied to the ceiling in the school dormitory room, where he was sleeping alone.
The Kiboga district CID chief, Godfrey Emojongo, who led a team of police detectives to the scene on Saturday morning, said that Pastor Elijah reported at the venue last Sunday evening.
Emajongo adds that when Elijah reported at the venue, he specifically requested for a separate room claiming that he wanted conducive environment for intensive prayers.
Ronald Muhaba, who was part of Elijah’s delegation, says that Elijah has spent three years in the country and has been ministering at Revival Church Seeta in Mukono district.

By press time the body of Elijah had been taken to Kiboga hospital for post mortem as police continued to record statements from the school authorities and organizers of the conference.
