Journalists in Uganda today joined the rest of the World to mark the World Press freedom day amidst growing concern about restrictions against media practice.

The main celebrations were held at Kampala Railway gardens where Journalists and media freedom advocates were flagged off for a peaceful procession around the City Center. After the procession, speeches were delivered in line with this year's theme 'Keeping Power in Check: Media, Justice and The Rule of Law.'

The celebrations were attended by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga as Chief Guest, the Danish Ambassador to Uganda Mogens Pedersen, Uganda Media Center Executive Director Ofwono Opondo, Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) Chairperson Meddie Kaggwa and others.

Uganda Radio Network - URN followed the celebrations and now brings you pictures.
