Pictorial: Late Mary Luwum’s Body Lies in State Top story

The body of the late Mary Lawinyo Luwum, the widow of the former Church of Uganda Archbishop, Janani Luwum lay in State On Thursday morning to allow Members of Parliament and the public to pay their last respects.

Mary Luwum, 93, died on August 6, 2019 after a battle with cancer. She will be laid to rest in Wii Gweng village in Mucwini Sub County, Kitgum district on August 17, 2019.     Her body was received by the Clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige, the Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa and the Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol Ochan among others. 

Several people signed the condolence book led by the Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and eulogized the late as a woman who lived a distinguished life.
