5402 Views Kampala, Uganda

On Tuesday, the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga threw out a court order issued by the Deputy Chief Justice, Steven Kavuma barring Parliament from discussing the Shillings 6 billion bonuses paid out to 42 government officials for their role in Heritage Oil and Gas case.
Kadaga tasked the Attorney General, Mwesigwa Rukutana to move to court immediately to vacate the "stupid order". She described the action of Justice Kavuma as gross violation of the doctrine of separation of powers aimed at frustrating the work of parliament.
URN followed parliament's plenary proceedings and now brings you the pictures.
