The US Embassy in Kampala on Tuesday evening marked the United States 240th Independence Anniversary.

Government of Uganda was represented by State minister for International Affairs Henry Okello Oryem. The event was also attended by other key dignitaries including ambassadors for different countries, Judges, ministers, members of parliament and others.

While speaking at the celebrations, the United States Ambassador to Uganda Deborah Malac said that Justice, Freedom and Accountability are some of the founding principles that have strengthened the union of the states despite going through contentious elections similar to the ongoing presidential race.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem said that despite a troublesome political history, Uganda is determined to shape her destiny through inspiration by the United States.

Oryem also stated that Uganda's relation with the US has continued to grow over the years and applauded the efforts between the two countries in fighting terrorism.
