Police Arrest More Eight Suspects Over Kiboga Murders

Police in Kiboga have arrested eight more people bringing to nine, the number suspects picked up in connection with the killing of five landlords. The suspects are wanted for their alleged involvement in the killing of Bosco Mugisha, Paul Bukenya, Charles Matovu, Dominic Mark Mugambe Asiimwe and Swalick Mukunya due to a land dispute.
 

The deceased were all residents of Ochenge zone in Nansana Parish in Wakiso district. They were hacked to death by an angry mob on Friday last week. Paul Bukenya and Matovu Charles, who allegedly inherited the 322 acres piece of land located at Singo bloc 577, plot 6 from their father Yozefu Wakulanume had gone to introduce Dominic Mark and Mugambe Asiimwe to the tenants as the new owners of a 30 piece of land they sold to them.  
 
Shortly after the incident, Police picked up Sande Kiguli, Kalwayo village chairperson in Lwamata sub-county as the prime suspect in the killing. Haningtone Basheija, the Kiboga District Police Commander told Haruna Isabirye, the Director in Charge of Operations Uganda Police and Enock Abaine, the Wamala Regional Police Commander on Friday evening, that they had picked up eight more suspects but didn't divulge details. Haruna Isabirye, the Director in Charge of Operations Uganda Police said they would maintain Police presence in the area to avert fresh chaos.

Israel Yiga, the Kiboga District LC 5 chairperson appealed to residents to work with Police.

Nickson Kabuye, the Kiboga Resident District Commissioner decried the overwhelming land conflicts in the district. He said on average his office receives three cases in a week.
