Police Band Director Josephine Kakooza Laid to Rest

The Director Uganda Police Band Josephine Kakooza has been laid to rest in Namumira village, Mukono district.

Kakooza passed away at Namirembe Hospital in Mukono District on Wednesday.

The Director of Human Resource Administration Moses Balimwoyo, who represented the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola at the burial on Saturday said that Kakooza has been a very hard working and loyal police officer. He asked police officers to emulate Kakooza.

The Member of Parliament Mukono North and Minister for State for Water Ronald Kibuule praised Kakooza's hard work.

Kakooza was given a 2-gun-salute as her body was lowered in the grave.

Kakooza was born in 1955 and attended St. Agnes Naggalama and Trinity College Nabbingo before joining the Uganda Police Force in 1970 at age 14 and served for more than 50 years.

In 2011 she was appointed the first woman Director of Music in the police force.
