Police Block Mbabazi from Accessing Jinja Hotel Top story

Police have blocked ex-prime minister Amama Mbabazi from accessing Travel hotel in Jinja where he was scheduled to address a consultative meeting.
Heavily armed Police Officers led by Haruna Isabirye, the Director Operations Uganda Police and Edgar Nyabongo, the Kiira Region Police Commander intercepted Mbabazi at Lubogo road on his way to Travel Hotel in Jinja Central Division and ordered him not to proceed.
Mbabazi engaged the two Police Commanders to allow him to proceed to the hotel in vain. They instead warned him that there would be a lot of causalities should he insist on proceeding to the hotel.
Before Mbabazi could complete his negotiations with Police, information filtered through the hotel owner Jude Mbabali had cancelled his reservation. Mbabazi had opted to address his supporters at Travel Hotel after Police blocked him from addressing them at Kazimingi business area and Kakindu Stadium.

He later agreed with Police to address a small group of his mobilisers at Nile Anchor Hotel, which belongs to FDC strongman Harry Kasigwa. Mbabazi asked his supporters to move to Nile Anchor Hotel. By the time of filing this story, Mbabazi was yet to arrive at Nile Anchor Hotel.
The ex-prime minister and former NRM secretary had scheduled consultative meetings in Jinja to popularize his presidential bid. Police used teargas and rubber bullets to disperse his rally at Kazimingi in Jinja town.

On Wednesday, Police broke up his consultative meeting in Soroti using tear gas and rubber bullets. More than 20 people were injured in the skirmishes with Police.
