Seventeen inmates from Katojo prison have been injured in a road accident in Fort Portal. The accident occurred this morning at Harubaho along the Fort Portal -Kamwenge road.

Richard Mugenyi, an eye witness told Uganda Radio Network that Kasende who was driving a double cabin pickup, registration number UAE 2013Y had parked on the side of the road.
The eyewitness says that one of the trucks registration number UAY 699Q belonging to China Railway Seventh Group, which is constructing the Fort Portal - Kamwenge road, rammed into the double cabin, injuring the prisoners and a prison warder who were seated behind. The prisoners, some with broken limbs have been taken to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital.
