The threat by Bujara to delete the politicians from the payroll stems from their decision to abandon work to compel the local government ministry to remove him from office.

The row between Augustine Bujara, the town clerk Kabale municipality and political leadership has escalated. The threat by Bujara to delete the politicians from the payroll stems from their decision to close their offices to compel the local government ministry to remove him from office.  On December 6, the LC III chairpersons led by the mayor Dr. Pius Ruhemurana resolved to close their offices to demand the removal the removal of Bujara after he was implicated for misappropriating 283 million shillings from the road fund.

Bujara was arrested and held at Kabale central police station but was on police bond. He resumed office drawing angry protests from the politicians who attempted to kick him out by were stopped by police. Now, Bujara has ordered the politicians to immediately open their offices and resume work or else risk being deleted from the payroll. He argues that the continued closure of the offices affected service delivery to residents.

But Happiness Kyokwijuka, the Northern Division chairperson says the town clerk is trying to confuse the public and buy time saying he is not fit to be in office. Kyokwijuka says their complaints against the town clerk are being investigated by local government before a decision is made for his removal from office.

Sentraro Byamugisha, the central Division chairperson says Bujara is playing tricks arguing that much as their offices are closed they are serving their electorate normally adding that, none of the voters is complaining. He dares the town clerk to go ahead and delete them from the payroll if he wants too.

Louis Bazirake, the Southern Division chairperson says they are fully aware of their action. Dr. Pius Ruhemurana, the Mayor Kabale municipality couldn't be reached by our reporter for a comment.
