Rubirizi Parliamentary Aspirant in Trouble for Voter Bribery

Cadet Benjamin Buturo, an Independent candidate for Bunyaruguru parliamentary seat in Rubirizi district is in trouble for alleged voter bribery and threatening violence against supporters of his opponents. David Mukundane, the Rubirizi Returning officer has ordered police to arrest Cadet for breaching campaign regulations. He accuses Cadet of conducting his campaigns at night, distributing bar soap and money to voters in breach of electoral laws. Mukundune says that Cadet has been seen on several occasions with sachets of salt, soap and other household items. Cadet admits conducting nigh campaign rallies but denies bribing voters and intimidating supporters of his opponents. Mukundane says that if his probe team finds him guilty he will be disqualified from the race and prosecuted in courts of law. Cadet is contesting against Tidamanyire Kabondo Goudioso of NRM, Moses Magezi, FDC and PPP's Robert Abiine. Milly Nyakato, the Rubirizi district police commander says that a team of police investigators from police headquarters in Kampala under Mark Businge has already arrived in the district to investigate the claims. Busingye says that, Kale Kayihura, the inspector general of police ordered him to go and investigate the accusations.
