"We are ready to give a good account and the first game in such a tournament is always important," head coach Tolbert Onyango told URN online from Dubai.


Onyango, a former stylish Kenyan player said playing at the Dubai 7s is good for the young players, but added that good performance we also push them places.


Eric Kasiita who will captain Uganda at the event told Urn before departure early this week that although they will be looked at as underdogs, they are determined to carry the Ugandan flag high.


Later after lunch the Rugby Cranes will face a much improved USA side and complete the group campaign with a game against Scotland.


The Rugby Cranes invited for the World Rugby Sevens Series leg in Dubai after they defeated Kenya, Zimbabwe and Namibia to lift the Rugby Africa Sevens title in October.


After the Dubai event, the rugby Cranes will fly straight to South Africa for the Cape Town 7s. They will also take part in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Qualifier in Hong Kong in March, 2017.
