Uganda Rugby Cranes have advanced to the quarter finals at the 2016 Olympic Games for rugby qualifiers on-going in the South African capital Johannesburg.

The team handled by Tobert Onyango managed two wins and one loss in Group B on Saturday and will now face Tunisia in the quarter final on Sunday.

Onyango's team silenced Zambia 47-5 in their first game played at the Barnard Stadium, Kempton Park. They later had to struggle to defeat Nigeria 19-12 before falling to table leaders Zimbabwe 43-0. Uganda finished second with seven points, while Zimbabwe lead with nine points.

Kenya were in good form winning all their three matches in Group A to qualify for the quarter finals together with Madagascar who managed their only group win against Senegal.

Namibia and Tunisia also qualified from Group C, while the other two teams that make the quarter final list are Morocco and Nigeria.

The winning team at the tournament will qualify for the Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro in the summer of 2016. South Africa already qualified for the Olympics by finishing second in the 2014/2-15 Sevens World Series.
