Uganda's national rugby has intensified preparations ahead of the 2016 Dubai 7s tournament slated for December 1-3.

"We are working really hard and no player is assured of a place yet on the final 12 man team that will travel," head coach Tolbert Onyango told URN.

The Rugby Cranes team was invited for the World Rugby Sevens Series leg in Dubai after they defeated beat Namibia to lift the Rugby Africa Sevens title in October.

As well as being drawn alongside South Africa, USA and Scotland in Pool B for the Dubai 7s, Uganda will also feature as the invited team for the Cape Town Sevens a week later. "The final team will be named at the end of this week," said Ramzy Olinga, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Rugby Union (URU).

The World Rugby body will cater for accommodation and transport for all the teams that will take part in the event. Besides fielding a men's team, Uganda's women rugby players will also play in the Dubai'7. The select women's team will however cater for their  costs.
