The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has applauded Church of Uganda, the Catholic Church and Muslim faith among others for complementing Government in the provision of education and health services in the country. Rugunda made the remarks at the annual fellowship convened by Rev. Canon George Bagamuhunda, the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese at his residence in Rugarama, Kabale Municipality on Saturday.

The annual fellowship, which is held on Boxing Day, brings together parishioners in the diocese to reflect on the work of the church, especially their diocese. Dr. Rugunda applauded Bishop Bagamuhunda for spearheading many developmental projects in the diocese in addition to convening the annual fellowship. "This solidarity is very much appreciated," said Rugunda.

He asked the people of Kabale to support the Bishop to transform the diocese and made a pledge of Shillings 20 million towards the completion of the Bishop's house. The Premier also urged the People of Kabale to ensure that the forthcoming general elections are peaceful, free and fair. He asked the people of Kigezi to vote for President Yoweri Museveni for steady progress of the country.

"Uganda is peaceful because of President Museveni. Let us be proud of our nation because we have stabilised," said Rugunda. Adding that, "Even refugees from neighboring countries run to Uganda because of the prevailing peace and stability." Dr. Rugunda said Uganda played a key role in ensuring that countries such as South Sudan, Somalia, Central African Republic (CAR), Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Burundi are stable.

Bishop Bagamuhunda thanked the parishioners who managed to come for the annual fellowship and urged his flock to be key stakeholders in managing the affairs of the diocese. Some of the priority projects the Bishop highlighted included the construction of a students' hostel, completion of the Bishop's house and Revival center as well as projects in the areas of education, health and water.

The area members of parliament including Jack Sabiiti, Henry Musasizi, Rhona Rita Ninsiima and Former State Minister for Privatization Manzi Tumubweinee contributed towards the projects. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, the Governor Bank of Uganda also contributed Shillings 5 million.
